| The National Service Training Department was set upm to run the national service training programme for youths in Malaysia. Youths have much to benefit from this programme. This programme brings together youths from allracial groups of Malaysia. Those youths from different religion and diverse cultural background have the chance to foster friendship and get to know one another. Youths need to learn to interact and integrate with all races. In interacting with people of other races and in working together on projects, they get to understand and respect each other's belief and ways of life. This contributes to national unity which is so necessary for the future of our nation. Furthermore, this programme allows youths to develop both physically and mentally.
Physical training makes them stronger and more capable. They also gain more positive attitude towards challenges. In undergoing the variety of training provided, they also learn to be more self-reliant. These activities also enable the participants to build their self-esteem. Many will find that this programme is good for character building. Youths become more confident and self-dependent. The programme aims to instill patriotism in our future generations.
